Right now I'm singing along to this BarlowGirl song called "Pedestal". It's cool. I have to clean to my room but I don't want to!!!
Proverbs 24:1-2 says "Do not be envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them; for their heart devises violence, and their lips talk of troublemaking."
Ever been jealous of someone who wasn't a Christian? I have. It seems like it'd be so much easier not to have to worry all the time about pleasing God and doing what's right. I like this verse a lot, because I can totally relate. I get so tired of having to try all the time to be perfect when I know I can't be, because I am human after all. And I also wish I fit in, you know? If I cussed and dressed like some of these kids at school do, would I have more friends? Would I feel more accepted? And cussing seems like such a great way to relieve anger, right?
In my heart, I know that I don't really want to be like that. I wish for acceptance, but I'm not willing to go to such great lengths to get such unsatisfactory results. God loves me and I'm happy with that. There is a joy He gives that is not available in stores. And I'm accepted by Him and other Christians, so I'm good. It's not like I don't have friends. It's not like I have no way to vent my anger. And I know that even if I could afford it, I'd be seriously uncomfortable in some of the clothes I see people wearing. So I'm happy.
Friends of mine who are reading this are invited to an afterglow on January 22nd at my Youth Minister's house. An afterglow is always after our Sunday night service and you are required to attend it to go to the Afterglow, so if you've got something at your church, you'll have to miss it!
February 5th is our Super Bowl party. Since the Super Bowl starts at five, you can get there any time after 4:30. I think it's at the Gibson's house but I'd have to check that. For those of you who've never been (and that'd be most of you) it lasts the whole time the Super Bowl is on. It'll be playing on a tv in one of the rooms, but only a few people actually watch it. There'll be snackage and extreme hide-and-go-seek. It's so much fun!!!
If any one is actually interested in coming, contact me at school, via email, or at church and I'll try to get you directions to whoever's house it's at.
