Wanna know a slighly gross but highly amusing secret? Okay, here goes: my dog burps. It's really funny sounding. When you're holding her and she burps, you can feel her stomach sort've contract like she's about to throw up. Then...URP! Out it comes! Don't you feel so highly privelaged to be a confidante of my deepest, darkest, randomest secret? Yup. You're special.
:) So, here's a verse: Luke 12:1-2, 'In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known." '
My and a group of my friends were joking around at lunch today. A couple of them were sort've looking through this girl's purse (and she had already said they could.) This other kid was all like, "You guys are so nosy. Hey, can I see that?" It was a purposeful hypocrisy, a joke. But that kind of stuff happens all the time. It's like when you're teacher makes you spit out your gum, but they're smacking on a piece right in front of you. Granted, they are allowed to have gum, but it is still beyond cruel. Or when someone snears, "Hey! That copycat took my idea!" when you know they got the hairdo out of a magazine.
As Christians, we have to be extra careful not to be hypocrites. One of the best ways to witness (and I think one of the easiest) is through our example. But if we don't practice what we preach, most people won't want to hear us out when we make a move to explain the Word. We talk about this a lot at church, mainly in Youth. We, as Christians, have higher standards and need to meet those standards to the best of our ability. God set these standards, but over time people have just come to expect certain things from Christians.
Now, you reading this (Nish, Liana) probably know all about this. But still, you've got to admit that it's nice to have a verse to go with what you already know, right?
